Our varsity football season kicks off with regular games starting Friday, Aug. 21! Scrimmages for each high school are planned for either tonight or Friday, Aug. 14. Two Cherokee County School District teachers have been selected to participate in a national science education program: one as a fellow and one as a mentor! Mill Creek Middle School eighth-grade science teacher Belynda Laing is the recipient of a year-long Xplorlab Educator Fellowship, one of only 36 honorees in the nation and one of two from CCSD. Mill Creek MS STEM teacher Samantha Daugherty, who earned a fellowship last year, was selected by the organization to serve as a mentor this year.
Our students’ performance has increased to new heights as our School Board’s laser focus on teaching and learning continues to elevate the excellence! Georgia Milestones Assessment results released this week show an increase in 9 of 13 performance areas compared to 2025. Our students not only continue to outperform state averages in all tested areas for an 11th consecutive year, they also surged even further ahead with double-digit margins over state performance in in 11 of 13 areas!
