Teacher Amy Garner gives a student a fist-bump

Amy Garner of E.T. Booth Middle School
A 26-year educator, Ms. Garner teaches eighth-grade math and enhanced algebra at E.T. Booth Middle School and serves as math department chair.  She has served that entire tenure at E.T. Booth, where she also has taught seventh-grade math.

What inspired you to become a teacher?
I was inspired to become a teacher by the many teachers in my family. My grandmother was a math teacher long before I became one, both of my parents were teachers, and I have many aunts and uncles who taught as well.

What do you find most rewarding about your job?
The most rewarding part of my job is helping my students find the confidence that helps them to be more successful in math than they have ever been before.

How do you elevate the excellence in your role?
I elevate the excellence in my class by establishing unwavering standards for student achievement, and then supporting students every day as they strive to reach new heights.
